Creating and Using Live Images

Last Updated on 05/06/2014 by dboth

One of the really very cool things about Linux is that, unlike other operating systems, one can create a live ISO image that can be installed on a CD, DVD or USB device. This device and then be booted on a Windows host and used to demonstrate the capabilities of Linux without the intrusiveness of having to actually install Linux on the host.

This section covers creating your own Live CD ISO image and installing it on a CD, DVD or USB device. Burning a bootable CD, DVD or USB device for your own ISO images or standard live or install ISO images downloaded from the Internet is also covered.

Problems you might encounter while performing these tasks are also covered.
