Compiling the Kernel

Well – – Not really. There are a lot of books out there that cover in great detail the process of compiling the kernel. In this section I will cover only the basic steps and some interesting information that I have found.

The best book I have found that deals with all aspects of compiling and configuring the kernel as well as the use of kernel parameters at start time is Linux kernel In a Nutshell by O’Reilly, 978-0-596-10079-7. This book is also available for Kindle from Amazon and in ebook format on LinuxTopia web at http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/linux_kernel/kernel_configuration/index.html.
